Today we’ll be skipping the usual Monday post. Life has thrown in a reality override.

We found out late last week that one of the main fundraisers for the Center, our Healing Ministry, will need to close due to changes in the law here in Montana. That really creates some changes all around.

I’m still going to be conducting my readings of course, and we’re still going to be operating Black Rose. We are just going to have to change our fundraising focus. While this may take a few months we are confident we’ll do just fine.

Rather than battle up stream we have made the choice to move into a new direction. Mr. Sam has applied to go to MSU for a degree in Paleontology and we’re going to move to Bozeman so he can do it. I’m already enrolled at the Southern New Hampshire University in their creative writing degree program.

This change will be good for us and we are looking forward to it.

CARPE DIEM

We will return to you regulary scheduled postings tomorrow! Today is my birthday and I’m going to celebrate it planting veggies in the Community veggie garden.

As spiritual workers we find ourselves challenging people all the time. We challenge them to do their best. We challenge them to leave prejudices behind them and to move forward a better person. We encourage dedication to task and seeing things through to conclusion.

Devastating storms have torn apart a rather large portion of the country. In less than a week hundreds of storms have devastated a wide swath across the eastern and southern states. Today we are challenging anyone who can to give whatever they can (yes, even a dollar or two helps) to the charity of your choice today. We strongly encourage you to donate to the American Red Cross, one of the primary responders who stick around for a long time helping folks recover.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all those who have been injured or lost families members, or were affected by the storms. We will keep you in our prayers asking that you be granted peace, good weather and a quick recovery from these devastating storms!

No. I’m not kidding. But, yet again, we’re not talking green men here either. Actually, it’s just fossilized remains, but hey, something had to live there for the remains to be fossilized, right? Here’s the article:

http://paranormaldailynews.com/2011/03/06/nasa-scientist-finds-evidence-of-alien-life/

Of course there’s controversy, but NASA is inviting specialist from all over the world to take a look at it, etc.

While the initial Oh Kewl! reaction is understood. There are underlying considerations here that, should these structures truly be the fossils of long-dead bacteriathat arrived here within the protective cocoon of a meteorite, what does that do to the human schemas.

Many of the world’s religions are based on an earth-centered philsophy. Some espouse that only the earth in all of the universe holds life. Others thing we are just an infestation on a third rate planet, circling a small star on an outer ring of an outer galaxy – we just can’t be the only life.

So, you tell us! What do you think? Life beyond earth – yeah or nay?

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

This is one of my most favorite cards in the Tarot. The High Priestess reminds us to look at all aspects of the situation. She also issues the challenges to us when we are making our choices.

The High Priestess reminds us to look for information and indicators toward the situation that we havne’t yet discovered.

Standing serenely, she gives little indication of the important work she is doing. She looks to the side at something we do not see, yet her glowing hands and the moonglow about her head give her an etheral feel.

Her association with the Moon and the night indicate her knowledge of things beyond what we can see. She knows th thoughts of others through their actions. She watches for that which will surprise her. she is cautous and careful. Much different than the Fool which began the journey, having been through the form of The Magician, the Priestess stands in knowledge and wisdom.

She also reminds us to think long range of what our actions are going to create. She warns that not looking at our actions with a long range view will be difficult to manifest that which we want to have happen.

My favorite aspect of The Priestess is that she shows us that the future before us can be something beyond that which we could have imagined.

When meditating with The Priestess regarding a situation you are having difficulty with, she reminds you to open your mind to other possibilities and potentials. She encourages questions and discourages foolish acts because she shows you that you need to look more before you have all the information.

The Priestess doesn’t require devotees….she inspires them!

Happy thoughts are important to have. Not just a passing thing, but thoughts that bring joy to your heart – thoughts that you want to hold and savor for a very long time before passing on to the next happy thought. They can be your armor in times of trouble, cheer you when you are alone in the dark and give you strength. They can also make you want to help others out more as well.

Having a hard time dealing with that indivdiual at work? When you have to interact with them, think about a happy thought while you are doing it. That’s right. Thinking a happy thougth while dealing with an uncomfortable situation can do a lot to help you feel more in control. There’s a majik in the happy thought. It literally changes the way your brain is firing and helps promote positive feelings. Positive feelings promote positive acts.

Seeing someone help someone else is innately motivating to us as following witnessing such an occurence people are more likely to help one another. Imagine the change you could begin if you were the first person or link in that chain!

Happy thoughts have power! Use them!

Today we’ll be discussing the first of the responsibilities of a citizen of the United States - Obeying the laws. This sounds so simple and straightforward doesn’t it? We learned as children that there were rules we had to abide by or our lives got very unfun very quickly. However, somewhere along the way many seem to loose connection with that simple responsibility. As a citizen, since we enjoy the rights of citizenship and the protections thereof, for those rights, we owe the state (United States) our compliance with the laws.

It would be difficult to find the American citizen who agrees with every law in the country, if one could be found at all. Whether we believe the law is just or not does not mean we need not adhere to them.

If you go to court expecting to get let off because you were unaware that the law existed, well, you’ll be very disappointed! Ignorance of the law is not a defense here in this country. Why? that’s part of the duty of the citizen – to know the laws well enough to not break them.

Today that ethic is difficult to find. When new regulatory laws are passed on an industry that industry tends to hire lawyers, lobbyists, publicists and more to put the industry’s take/spin on the situation. The lawyers file motions in courts challenging the law. Lobbyists visit members of Congress promoting their industry’s viewpoint. Publicists create advertising campaigns to get the American public on their side. Courts rule, lawyers file appeals, and the issue finds itself before the Supreme Court of the United States.

There seems to be a more overt shift in the American public psyche. When our founding fathers formed this nation and broke for English rule, rebellion ran wild and rampant. A war ensued because as a people, on the whole, those living in the Americas believed that they were entitled to equal representation under the law if the British crown received their taxes.

Once the mutual enemy was beaten, the real work of forging a nation began. Our forefathers faced the challenge of taking a people who had been mentally feasting at the banquet of freedom and independence – many for the first time in their lives. It was a heady time because no where else in the world at that time was there a country such as the United States where the freedom and independence of the individual was so important and essential to the country and what it stood for.

Maybe it is the veteran in me. I joined the service because I believed in “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet” and wanted to contribute – at a time when being in the service wasn’t exactly popular. Maybe it was going to grade school in upstate New Hampshire where revolutionary era war was a tangible thing through field trips and museums.

Yet, throughout history, whenever regimes became too oppressive, when a group of citizens reach the thinking of “When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty,” that has heralded great change. The quote has been attributed to a variety of sources, ranging from David Koresh to Benjamin Franklin; Thomas Jefferson, and others have been recognized for the phrase.

It is difficult to remember in our 2011 world that when our forefathers constructed the Constitution to govern by that they believed in the goodness of their fellow man to do the right thing. They knew the cost of rebellion – up close and personal. I wonder if any of our forefathers would recognize the country they founded.

It really isn’t difficult. Show your citizenship – obey the laws – from traffic laws to zoning rules. They are there for a reason. Our forefathers did not rebel lightly. They knew what war meant, they knew people would die, wives would send husbands to war to never return, sons would die. Many other noncombatants as well. Rebellion is not only risky business, it’s bloody. Having been through the birth pains of the revolution the citizens of the new nation were proud to abide by the laws created during the process. Making the conscious choice to obey the law was a duty citizens exercised with pride and honor.

If you want your country to be there for you, you need to be there for your country. Remember, we are at war – whether you agree with the war or not is not the point here – the fact is soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines are dying on battlefields half a world away. They understand sacrifice, duty, and honor. With their example, how can we as citizens do anything less than everything we can to make our country strong.

President Kennedy said it best: “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” I am sure something of that nature was espoused during the tense and dark days of the American Civil War and especially somewhere on Boston Commons during the days of revolutionary fevor during the birth of our country.

With the politicians running wild and becoming rich upon their service to the country is it really their fault, or are they just a glaring example of how much we, the people, have to teach them about duty as a citizen. Until we clean up our house as citizens, we’ll never be able to clean up the political system!

It is true both for the individual and for the country – positive change comes from within. A true belief that we are a part of something much bigger than the individual and that very something is worth sacrificing for is something each citizen should have. We are fortunate to live in a very wonderful country – even with her ills.

Honor the sacrifice of the military by making sure that you are a good citizen. Your citizenship and what it means really is part of what they serve to protect.

It is a joy of childhood (and for many adults) to lay out in the back yard and watch the stars in the sky above. They begin to appear slowly as the day fades to night. When full dark finally comes, your eyes are adjusted and you see stars that you have never seen before.

As you look at the stars you realize that there is an immensity out there that is just beyond your comprehension. As you look above you realize how small you feel compared with the vastness of the universe.

Some of us even learned the basic major constellations like Ursa Major and Minor (the Big and Little Dippers, the North Star, Orion, the Pleiades, etc. As a child I remember wondering why most of the stars in the constellations were pinpricks of light and others seemed to be fuzzy and soft. The 7 Sisters are difficult to see because they are actually seven stars that are different distances from us. Others are fuzzy because they are gaseous structures of immense size.

We totally get the high heels. We think a lot of the shoes are cute at least, and some are downright stunning. What I don’t get is why women torture themselves to the point of getting surgery done on their feet, so they can wear four to six inch heels on their shoes.

At a total of five feet four inches high, I understand how slimming a few extra inches in height will do, and I used to dance in four inch heels. But I could still move naturally, I could still dance.

Today some women can barely walk in the heels they are wearing. More and more you see female performers on stage who can barely move because of the height of their shoes. And now women are getting surgery to alter their feet to make the wearing of the shoes more comfortable. I can’t say how difficult it is for me to wrap my head around that. Here’s a link to a recent article. I get the part about the bunions.
