Ten of Swords (Spades)
The Ten of Swords shows us the folly of giving in to our baser passions. Through action without thought we can destroy that which we hold most dear. In the card we see the lifeblood of the man flowing freely from a killing wound as the woman holds him in her arms.
This card is always difficult to understand and accept in a spread. Without the anguish of emotional pain we cannot understand the joy of emotional happiness. Although starting out with hope and determination the couple, much like Romeo and Juliet have destroyed each other. Rather than letting each other go and allowing the winds of change to move them each to their own futures, the couple chose through their actions to destroy each other. Although rare, this card can mean the opposite wherein there is success and improvement, but the gains are always temporary in this regard.
