Each suit begins with the Ace. With the association of a beginning, the Aces are linked to the Magician which is the first of the Major Arcana to be a numbered card. The Aces signify the cyclic nature of life as they begin each new cycle. In the Greek single-element monad (“divine spark”) which eepresented the beginning of creation. The number One is often associated with materialism and the cycle of life – birth and rebirth. The Ace is also thought to represent the earliest and most primordial form of the element which it represents. (Remember that each suit is assigned to one of the elements of Fire, Water, Earth or Air.) If you have a majority of Aces in your spread it indicates strength. The Aces are always cards of strength and determination. They are the card of the first step.
The association of beginnings is rather obvious but is strong enough to be stated here. The Aces always show you where it is you should look to go for a new start.The Kabalistic Links to the Tarot were not indicated until very late in Tarot history. The information held within the Kabalistic link has more to do with theTarot’s association to Kabala than a Kabalistic connection to the Tarot. The Kabala is far older and has nuances and depth that can take a lifetime of study to understand the intricacies of the Kabala.For the Aces (or number 1) the link is to Kether, or the Crown. The first Sephirah symbolizes the hitherto unmanifest at the point where it can become knowable to us. In Kether, there is still no form, only pure Being or Life in a state of inertia; but latent within it there are both male and female potentialities. As Pure Being it stands behind manifestation and projects it. Here the pair of opposites have not yet declared themselves, as they do in Chokmah and Binah; in Tiphareth they have finally arrived at perfect equilibrium
