The Threes speak of the strong creation through the element to which they belong. This creation leads to advancement and growth which propels you forward, sometimes uncomfortably. Three is referred to as the number of the mind. The number three is closely aligned with the triangle in geometry. The triangle in alchemy was the symbol of logic, intellect and reason. It was also the symbol of fire. The triangle is also another analogy for the trinity. The Three also gives a sense of completion, although normally that of the completion of a portion of a project rather than the entirety of the venture.
The Kabalistic Link for the Number 3 is Binah, Understanding, the Throne. Binah is negative, and thus able to receive the positive flow from Chokmah. She is the great Mother of the Universe, but she is also at the top of the Pillar of Severity, for the embodied spirit sees death on the horizon as soon as it is born. The idea of experiencing sorrow and death is implicit in the descent of life into form. The seed planted in the earth dies that it may multiply, so Binah is death for the Chokmah force and truly belongs on the pillar of Severity. The next six Sephiroth are what the Kabalists call the Lesser Countenance of the Cosmos on a lower plane. Here we will find the forces of growth and abundance.
